'Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."'
The 'Love your neighbor as yourself' does not mean, "love your neighbor as much as you love yourself". Rather, it means "love your neighbor as if they were yourself" (e.g. share both their joys and their sorrows). This goes well beyond mere empathy. For we are both united in Christ and we are called to love them as a fellow child of God.
"God gave me the serenity to accept the things that I can't change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference between the two."
"I am too positive to be doubtful. Too optimistic to be fearful. And too determined to be defeated."
"You never know how strong you are...until being strong is the only choice you have."
"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny."
Matthew 22:37-40 seems appropriate here.
